Rob Calvert

Rob Calvert (b 1957, Virginia) is a visual artist with a background in art, architecture and education. The material is drawn from life - nature, culture and history - often where things are or appear in conflict. The art seeks to match theme, means and structure through the experience of doing painting, assemblages, printmaking and photography. Specific themes include environmental (Oklahoma and the Bees series); house and home (assemblages); and Holocaust (Benennen).

He lives in Sag Harbor, NY and is married to Mary Woltz, beekeeper and founding owner of Bees' Needs. Outside of the studio he pursues social justices issues as a member of the Sag Harbor Community Housing Trust.
